Myriad Gardens - South Lobby
Oklahoma City, OK
It’s all about flexibility.
The goal for lighting the Myriad Gardens South Lobby was to support the interior design goal to have open spaces that occupants could move between. By varying lighting levels and distribution types, we were able to carve out 5 distinct spaces within the whole volume.
Using a combination of LED tape in extrusion, and a track type fixture from ERCO with multiple distribution types, both general and accent illumination were achieved.
The wide distribution ERCO head was used to provide general illumination while the focused spot was used to accent the featured artwork, which was rotated on a routine basis. As the shapes of this art was changed, the spots could be realigned to the new positioning and size. Square wall-wash cans were used to light the artwork on the columns.
Our design team went through multiple artwork iterations before deciding to go with a backlit MDF leaf outline. The edges of the outline were ringed with a flexible LED tape, to provide upward illumination. We painted the ceiling behind a high-reflective white so that we could reflect the most light up off the ceiling and into the space below, creating a soft glow that lit the gathering space in the middle of the lobby.
